Choosing the right packing supplies
Having the right packing supplies, and enough of them, is a game changer for moving. Did you know that proper moving and storage boxes are more durable than regular cardboard, built to hold more weight and stand up to repeated use? They come in a range of sizes so you are not forcing everything into one box. For large or awkward items like mirrors and televisions, it is worth using a box designed for them.
To help you pack more efficiently, here is a brief checklist of essential packing items to get started:
- Heavy-duty boxes (small, medium, large)
- Bubble wrap or packing paper for cushioning
- Packing tape and a tape dispenser
- Stretch wrap (Easy Wrap film) for furniture and loose items
- Labels and markers
- Work gloves
- Nylon rope or straps to secure items during transport.

💡 Packing tips
- 1.5 and 2 cubic boxes are best for your heaviest items, such as books, tools, and dishes
- 4 cubic boxes work as an all purpose box for linens, towels, and clothing
- 6 cubic boxes should be used for lightweight, bulky items, such as pillows and blankets
- DO NOT load big boxes with too many heavy items
- Protect fragile items by using specialty boxes for dishes and TVs
